Are you a vet nurse or vet nurse student looking for new opportunities to apply and share your skills? Consider volunteering to join our vet team here at LCTW!

At our wildlife hospital, you can share and hone your skills as you assist our full-time vets in their lifesaving rescue work. Become part of our team including inpatient and outpatient care, supporting surgical procedures and the husbandry of wildlife, and see up close the day to day inner workings of a wildlife rescue.

What’s the day like?

Volunteers usually work from 8am to 5pm, with one day off per week. We don’t keep to a specific schedule at our wildlife hospital, as the day’s tasks vary depending on the animals in our care. We only ask you to be flexible, as in an emergency, we will always put the animals first.

Be prepared to be kept on your toes! At any point we could have a call out for a huge confiscation of illegally traded wildlife, receive donated animals at the gates or have an animal need critical veterinary attention. We also encourage you to get stuck into your own research projects, so do bring up any ideas you may have with the team!

If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been waiting for, don’t hesitate to apply today! To ensure everyone gets the most out of their experience, we usually limit the Vet Nurse programme to one person at a time. If you’d like to come as a group, please get in touch for further details.

For all the info about our centre, our history and our approach, check out our volunteer guide. If you don’t find the answer to your question, please feel free to get in touch. Once you’ve decided on a programme, you can apply online below!
