Cookie policy
A cookie is a small text file containing information that we store on your device, if you agree. Learn more about cookies at aboutcookies.org.
Our website uses first-party and third-party cookies to tell you apart from other visitors. We do not use cookies to identify you personally, but to record traffic, assess trends, and see how users move through our website. We use this information to improve our website and target our marketing more effectively.
By continuing to use our website, you are agreeing to our use of cookies. You can block all cookies through your browser settings, although this might cause our website to not work properly.
Embedded content from other websites
This site includes embedded content including videos from YouTube. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to monitor traffic and visits to our website. This helps us understand how our visitors use our website and helps us to improve it. Google Analytics stores your IP address and browser data anonymously, and neither we nor Google link this data with any of your personal information. You may view the privacy policy for Google Analytics here. You can use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent your data being collected for this purpose.
We also use Google Ads’ free conversion tracking features on certain pages. If you apply for a volunteer programme, sign up to our newsletter, make a donation, or contact us in another way, we may track your visit anonymously to help us understand the path you took.
We use Facebook Pixel to understand the actions our visitors take on our website and to monitor the performance of our social media campaigns. We do not use this information to link your visit to your personal information, and all data is analysed anonymously and in aggregate. You can view Facebook’s privacy policy here. To prevent your data being collected for this purpose, we recommend using a privacy browser extension such as uBlock Origin (for Chrome, Firefox) or Privacy Badger.
What rights you have over your data
You can contact us at any time to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you. We may charge a small fee for this. We are happy to correct any inaccuracies and delete any personal information at your request.
Where we send your data
In addition to the uses mentioned above, your data may be transferred to our offices in Laos or the UK. We have taken all the steps necessary to make sure your data is adequately protected when it is transferred to a jurisdiction where data protection laws are not as strict as the UK.
Changes to this privacy policy
If we make changes to our privacy and cookie policy, we will update this page, and contact you by email where appropriate. This page was last updated in June 2019.
